Title: Clutch or gearbox problem any ideas
Post by: carpetviper on 24 February 2011, 18:53

2 weeks ago I had a new clutch fitted and all was good untill the pedal stuck to the floor and wouldnt return so my garage fitted a new input shaft and nearing.

now when i press the clutch while in gear I hear a whirring scraping noise but only if a gear is selected and only when the clutch is pressed.

When driving everything sounds normal till the clutch is pressed to change gear.

Does anyone know what this could be ?

Sounds like a knackered release bearing

when the clutch sticks to the foor its normally because they havent bled the system properly or not at all as for the scraping it does sound like a relsease beraring mate

only on the 16v that's true but the 8v uses a cable and the clutch arm (ratchet) cracks making the pedal fall!
which model is it? (again the 8v clutch kit comes as 2 piece (without the bearing) but as this is on the gearbox side there easy to fix (subject to space!)
