Title: Retexturing bumpers on a Mk2
Post by: Andy P on 24 February 2011, 14:40
Anyone done it? There is a product called Upol which some people use. Anybody had any experience with it? And if so is the colour match ok?

Cheers

The colour they say you need is black but it's nothing like black is it? More of a dark grey. Can you ask your mate what colour he bought?

I'm sure he has bigger problems on his mind haha. Is your 8v standard? 15.4 isn't bad mate

Had the bumpers done yesterday. They came out a little bit darker than the arch trims. The bodyshop done them for £30 for both bumpers. Hopefully they will fade a bit over time. I should be able to restore the arch trim with a heat gun or loads of bumper gel.

Some peeps use a heat gun to melt back the faded surface plastic.  Be careful though.

Some people use chip fat.

I used a good scrubbing brush and then used either:

1. Autogylm bumpe care
2. Black shoe polish - the one from the sponge applicator.

Both work well.
