Title: Raising coilovers, harsher ride?
Post by: Bellend on 23 February 2011, 23:29
Raising the car up for the paremts but notice that the spring starts compressing quite a bit now, helper springs compressed. Thinking about it, is raising it to the highest point going to make the springs rebound less and therefore be a bit harsher? Is there  sweet middle ground? Or not? Lol.

It will be softer if you raise it up, mine was.

mines about 70mm up. so around 80mm in height at the front and no bouncyness at all really nice ride. so should be good!

If my mum drove mt car, ikd leave it decked. But mines real harsh so raising it up would be good to soften it. All depends what coillies for how soft there gunna be though

This.

Springs are for height, dampers are for damping. The more squashed the damper is (lowered) the more compacted the oil/gas will be resulting in a firmer ride. Think of it like a syringe full of air, the more you squeeze it, the harder it will be.

Cheers guys, I get all that but was just thinking as it compresses so much, there is less room to travel to a certain extent but I've worked it out in my head.

I assume the coil is just long enough to get all the spring travel even at the highest setting.
