Title: Selling Advice
Post by: Whittle55 on 07 March 2005, 20:18
Hi All.

I am thinking of selling my VW but not 100%.

To be honest it needs a couple of hundred quid spending on some of the body work. How much do you think i should ask for.

1989 Karmen Gti
112K.
4 Months Tax
6 Months MOT.

Any ideas. I was thinking aroung ?1200.

Good news is i will still be a vw as i am looking t upgrade.

Thanks
Andy.

Sounds quite cheap, reckon you should start a bit higher than that  It'll be the right time of year to sell it soon!

I agree with Bronze on that one, far too low a starting point, people want cabs about now getting ready for the summer but look on autotrader to get some ideas of prices first.  Oh yeah, they all need a couple of hundred quid spending on the body work, mines getting a tidy up in the next couple of months !

For the sake of what you're thinking of asking for it surely it must be worth keeping in the garage for the summer and getting a slightly cheaper newer golf

I thought about selling mine last year, but decided against it. This summer I know I would have made the right choice.
Don't sell it! Just keep it and buy a second car to run about it. Thats what I have done (just dont buy another VW, or you'll have 2 toys to spend money on)

Yeah I've been meaning to buy a cheap run around for the winter for the last two years

It's a nice looking cab, be a shame to sell it

depends what kind of new car you are after. Your car looks in top condition, have a look at ebay and see some of the so called 'gems' on there, picking up cabs in good condition these days is getting rare. if your not into spending the time repairing the jobs yourself to cut costs then a new car is probably best i thought that would have been the fun of owning one always the element of doubt on each jorney you might have to be towed back.
