Title: Car not sitting straight?
Post by: Mr_Orange on 23 February 2011, 12:24
Had the springs, shocks and top mounts replaced yesterday.

Measured the car up before hand to find one of the rear corners sitting ~12mm higher/lower than the other (wheel centre to arch lip).  How odd I thought, something must be a bit worn out somewhere.......

Picked it up to find something slightly disturbing.  Any guesses?

Will post a pic or two up this evening.

Hello!

I thought one was broken, but turns out the rear springs were totally different.......!

Not sure you can see in the picture but:

Top one is heavier gauge material and larger overall diameter, about and inch shorter with white and blue dots on (original VW factory fit?)
The other is longer, narrower gauge and slimmer overall diameter.  Looking back at some old receipts  one was replaced in 2008 (before I owned it)

Aint it a bit ghetto someone doing just the one spring?

Might this explain why the back interior of the car creaks and groans?   :undecided:
