Title: Fuel consumption on the 1.8T
Post by: BOGGLE on 07 March 2005, 18:39
Just wondered what sort of mileage other1.8T owners got from a tank as mine seems to be using quite a lot

From a full tank I get around 280-300 miles motorway driving with a bit of panning

As for town use, I can stretch to around 60 miles for ?10

I get around 200 - 240 miles on a full tank of super plus on full boost.

Dont really get anymore if i turn it down so it gets left on full

Well you've all made me feel much better.  I normally get around 280 to 300 but i have had 330 on the motorway.

While we're on that subject, i have a motorsport developments chip which was fitted before i bought the car.  It's a 99T and i wondered if it would be possible or worth my while getting that changed for something like a Revo.  Would that make any difference?
Title: Re: Fuel consumption on the 1.8T
Post by: topher on 07 March 2005, 19:59
hard to say without seeing a dynoplot.. most AGU maps are similar, but revo is known for giving you a great big whack of torque from 2500 - 4750ish rpm.
Title: Re: Fuel consumption on the 1.8T
Post by: BOGGLE on 07 March 2005, 20:04
Would it be easy enough for the mechanic to remove the uprated chip?
Title: Re: Fuel consumption on the 1.8T
Post by: topher on 07 March 2005, 20:11
Removing it will be simple enough.. its replacing it that may cause problems, i was under the impression revo can only remap your ecu if its stock, so they can identify which software they need to flash to it... might be worth contacting revo directly. Speak to Doug or Kev.. they'll sort you out !

My car is doing 60miles to a tenner, it used to be better than that, but its now getting greedy!

Post by: BOGGLE on 08 March 2005, 11:36
For some reason i thought that the 2.0 would do more miles than the 1.8t but perhaps not

Post by: Sugar79 on 14 March 2005, 09:28
no it went all the way up and now wont move, even tho i can hear it in the door going up and down,  its getting on my nerves now as both the front passenger and the drivers was repaired last summer because the clip snapped on both sides, but now the window keeps coming loose out of the metal arm... its such a head jar.

:sad:I get 320-340 out of my standard 1.8T which is pretty crap by my reckoning. Got about 300-330 out of my 2.0 which is also poor but its worth it to not be driving a Focus!!!!!!!!!!!

ive got for the inside of the bumper

x2 black things that go sort of clip in were the jets go
x2 yellow/white looking  things aint got a clue what these are for or were they go
x1 black plastic thing that goes around the middle grill

and thats about it is there any thing missing? if you no let us know or am i being stupid and they just screw in somewere and theres nothing missing thanks.

also got any pics of the front
Title: Re: Fuel consumption on the 1.8T
Post by: R32_T on 30 March 2005, 22:24
To be honest mate, the bodyshop fitted the bumpers on as I had to get them sprayed. I would have thought that the top of the washer jets just clip into the bumper and connect to the washer jets that are fitted onto the bumper rail. The plastic caps just clips on top.

here's pics of the front

Im geting 34 to the gallon with a standard setup. Not had my car long so engine mods are on the way. Most of my driving is motorway which saves a lot of fuel but I still give the old girl a good thrashing!

DVLA have f@cked the records up on my car. I actually did near enough sell it. The winning bidder rang me on Monday morning to say he was coming down to get it but wanted to do a HPI check while he was on his way down. He was from Liverpool, im in Leicester so as you can see its quite a drive. He rang me at 9.30am and said he was leaving at 10.00 and would be at mine for around 1.00pm. I then get a phone call at 11.00am while he was on his way down to say that the HPI company rang him and told him that my car had done 72.000 miles in Aug 04!!!   thats what happend. I told him this can't be as I purchased it way before that date and said its only done 65.000 miles at the moment, with FVWSH. He turned around and went home, he didn't believe me, he thought i'd clocked it back.

I rang DVLA, they said thay can't do anything about it and gave me the number for Experion (AA) HPI company. So I rang them and said "what the F@CK is going on??" They told me that as it was first registered to a VW finance company they estimated the annual milage. They said I need to send them some proof of the milage so they can amend/correct their records and ALSO told me that it would take 8-12 weeks to get this corrected!!!

So I've sent off a copy of my MOT certificate. But now im stuck with the car for around another 2-3 months

F@CKIN wayne kerrS!!!

Went to Wales on Saturday and got 380 miles without the fuel light coming on. The computer said 33.2mpg average, the car has been chipped to around 207bhp. That was at a steady 75-80mph.
