Would a intercooler be a good upgrade? Was wondering also if the DSG box would handle a blufin and intercooler upgrade as the limit is 350nm torque?
Cheers in advance guys!
Jay
P.S sorry for all the questions just new to the GTi :embarassed:
-
there are a few companies offering dsg software upgrades which i believe also allow it to handle MORE POWER!!!!!
-
Check out Revo mate, they offer a nice stage one and DSG software. Stage one stuff doesnt need new intercoolers etc, its just ECU and some other small changes.
Revo also do a switch that turns it off so the dealer is none the wiser.....

Upgraded InterCooler is not essential for stage 2, just recommended to get the most out of your car. I would be looking at exhaust and induction upgrades first
-
cool, so if i did upgrade intercooler, DV and blufinned the Golf would i need a DSG upgrade because of the torque limit? im only upgrading the intercooler because i like the idear of cooler boost air. prolonging the life of the engine. a bit of mechanical sympathy i suppose. :undecided:
i could be talking crap and fully expect to be put back in my box lol

Superchips have two stage 1 maps for the MK6 GTI, one for manual and one for DSG with a 350Nm torque limit.
-
Does this change the torque limit?
-
Yes, I think the manual Map peaks at around 360-370Nm but the DSG is held at 350Nm.
The stock torque is about 280Nm

Revo don't do DSG software for the newer DSG gearbox's fitted to the Mk6.

Newer? Does that mean mine will be ok Steve as mine is an early GTI?

Nope all of the Mk6's and the very end run out Mk5's (like the Pirelli Edition) have a CAN Bus controlled mechatronics that Revo don't have software for at present.

If i was to blufin and upgrade the intercooler, would it have a detrimental effect on the dsg gearbox being limited to 350nm torque? what happens in the torque limit is over 350nm?

BOOM!
Only joking, i think you will be ok, was interested in this myself so i sent an email off to awesome gti and heres the response i got:
Hi Stuart,
Right first of all here are the list of modifications required to upgrade to
stage 2:
Complete exhaust system with sports-Cat or De-Cat (De-Cat is for off road
use only)
Performance air intake kit
Not NEEDED but recommended to get the most out of the engine:
Intercooler upgrade
Please let me know what you have/haven't got and I will be able to price the
bits up for you :)
DSG clutch
We have done a stage 3 turbo kit on a DSG equipped Mk6 and never seen an
issue after 20K of hard driving as well.
We no longer deal with APR so it will have to be the REVO tuning but to be
100% honest with you the REVO software on the newer 2.0TFSI and 2.0TSI
engines gives much better increases over APR.
Hope this helps.
Kind Regards
