Title: Heated mirror upgrade
Post by: ggoodwin on 22 February 2011, 14:48
I recently bought a pair of electric mirrors with loom thinking that all electric mirrors were also heated mirrors.  I may have been wrong about that.

As the mirror glass was not brilliant, I decided to get some new glass before fitting them and the wide-angle, heated mirror glass arrived this morning.  I've popped off the old mirrors only to find that there do not appear to be any connections for cables which leads me to my conclusion above :( .   I think I was slightly fooled by the three spring 'contacts' positioned around the edge, what are they for?

Does anyone know the cable colours which connect to the heated mirrors and should I be able to patch in the non-existent connectors for the new glass?

Thanks

Graham

if the mirrors are electric they should also have the heater wires inside, there were no mk2s that were electric but not heated.

the spring contact things are just to keep the glass aligned in the mirror as its moving about the place

You were absolutely right!  The mirrors must have been replaced at some point with non-heated glass and someone had taped up the connections and tucked them round the back with the cables for the motors.  That's the quickest upgrade I've ever done :) .

Many thanks.
