Title: 256mm Upgrade

Hi All,

I've bought a 256mm upgrade for the rear of my PD150 but I remembered reading somewhere about the splash guards being the wrong size.....seems obvious, but I also remember something about replacing bearings if you remove them. Sorry it's bit vague can't remember where I saw the info. Does anyone have a guide to fitting these and exactly whats involved?

Also I don't have the right size splash guards with everything I've bought....should I buy them or will it be ok without?

will be fine without splash guards.. you can also mod the old ones i think..

do a search should be a guide on here somewhere !

basically just get some tin snips and cut the lip in places all around the guard and then just fold the lips back. Job done and you dont have to remove the guard.

most people recommend replacing the wheel bearings cos when you strip all the brakes your bound to get contaminents in there and theyll break soon after. there not that expensive so id do them while everythings in bits.

shouldnt really get any contaminents when changing the brakes as its a straight forward job. Disc's off, new mounting brackets on, rewind caliper piston, replace pads, fit new disc's and calipers. job done

in theory no, but in reality how much crap comes off when you take brakes to bits? and its all fine dust that makes its way into everything.

there not an expensive part, makes sense to do them when there right in front of you

Unfortunately some ejit decided to re-arrange the front of my car last night so the brake upgrade is going to have to wait until it's repaired by the insurance company  :sad:.
