I was going to wait until March but couldn't take it any longer and decided to pick it up. It's beautiful and feels great. I can't quite get over how good the DSG box is. Everything seems to be working well apart from the oil temperature display on the MFD. It says "--- C", even after an hour's drive. Has anyone seen this before?
-
Not me, the oil temp starts like that but after 5 minutes starts to show the temperature of the oil
-
I seem to remember ghat this us something to with the PDI. They musn't have set it up correctly.
-
Photo's are good , welldone . Needs to be PDI again ?
-
Mine takes a while to show but it should show after an hours driving unless your in the artic. I know its cold in Manchester but not that cold
As buck says the cars are sent over to the dealers with minimum things turned on as the system is in transportation mode to save the battery while in storage/docks etc. The dealers have to enable and turn things on when it gets to them during the PDI. I would take it to your nearest VW dealer when you have 5 mins and get them to check why its off. It maybe just a sensor or wire issue.
If it was me i would be checking fluid levels etc just to make sure nothing else during PDI was missed.
I think the other posters are all asking for photos as there is only 2 Shadow blue GTIs and one GTD on here. Its quite a rare colour for the GTI.

Welcome to the MK6 section of the forum

Mine shows the temp at around 50-60 C, takes 5 minutes or so.
Back to the dealer, they'll sort it.
-
Mine shows 90 C average, up to 100 C in traffic.

Or when having fun
-
If it is not showing a temp after a hour then it might be a duff sender
-
Well I was sitting in traffic when I left work one day so I was flicking through the MFD settings just killing time and the oil temp showed "--- C". I kept on watching it then it suddenly came in at 50C. So whether it doesn't register any temp until then I'm not sure.
After an hours drive it should show something so take it back and get it checked.

That is the same as a mk3, nothing untill 50c

Very well covered as ever Snoopy, best of luck with the diagnosis, please let us know the outcome

x1 should be on after about 5 minutes of driving, usually comes on at about 50-60C .

Thanks everyone. I will take it back and see what they say. I'll post some pics soon!
Just kissed the kerb with my rear left. Only a little nick on the alloys but still feels horrible.. Didn't take long to lose its innocence...

Here are some pics after a long drive. It was dull and foggy, so you only can really see the "Shadow" in Shadow Blue.

So I went back to the dealer, they took it in for 10 mins and brought it back washed (nice), with oil temp display working! I asked the salesman what the problem had been and he told me:
"There are different service packages, they used the wrong one. Sorted. It was all on the computer"
Doesn't make that much sense to me but at least it seems that it was software not hardware. Average oil temp is about 92C. It certainly takes quite a bit longer for the oil to get up to temp than the water...

Glad you got it sorted jojo
