Title: Heated seat problem
Post by: Burnsy on 06 March 2005, 09:04
Ive got heated seats in my Vr6 but only the passenger side seems to work :(
Is there anything i can check on the drivers side that might prevent it from working ?

Hi there,

i've got the exact same problem on my colour concept! vw wanted a rediculous price to have it fixed, over ?300, quoting "all labour and very time consuming to take the leather seat cover off"

It gets better, i was just going to go ahead with it and asked when i could book it it when the service guy says hold on and went through to the body shop. He comes out 2 mins later and says no mechanic is prepaired to do it saying "its a barsteward of a job"

Either vw did'nt want to do it and hoped the price would put me off or its a right c*nt of a job.  :undecided:

An ex VW technician friend of mine told me it is the C*ntiest C*nt of a job to take off and refit a leather seat cover to replace the heating elements.

2. Is there any power getting to the seat
3. Is there continuity through the heating elements
4. Is there power before and after the heating switch .

Maybe a daft question and don't know if mk3s are same as mk1s, but I've got heated seats on mine and there is a plug under the seat, has that got disconnected somehow ?  :undecided:
