Hey guys,
Just picked up my MK6 Golf 2.0TDI tonight, the valet carried out on the car makes it look lovely, but it needs detail which will happen on monday :)
The only niggle I have is, when pulling away, the clutch wobbles alot and also makes the car judder, would this be a warranty claim? It has done 40k miles but it is rather bad?
Cheers,
Dan.
-
Grey area, they may class it as a wear and tear item so will not cover it.
-
Dan
At 40k that is poor wear and tear based on life expectency.
As you've only just picked it up I'd be taking that straight back - did it do this on the test drive before you signed on the dotted line?
-
To be fair, I can't say I noticed it, car was a sales rep's before so they must of really rode the clutch!
I may try my local VW garage tomorrow and see what they say, they've always been helpful with services on my Seat's, but hey, you never know, could be total d*cks when it comes to their warranty :)
It may be the clutch plate, but my colleagues 1999 Golf GT TDI had 140k on the clock and still drives like it was new? So I shall raise that point :)
-
Go in firm but fair. State the issue and ask them for the diagnosis without offering your opinion.
Did you buy from VW or an independent ?
-
I'm surprised you've posted in here Dan when we have a TDI section?

I'm not sure what you mean by clutch wobble, whats wobbling the pedal?
Clutch pedal pulsating/vibrating (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=180522.0)
Yes there is something wrong get it checked. If they say its the same on all 2.0 TDI's then ask them to show you another one that does it or better still choose your own TDI from the parking lot to try.
-
Where was it bought from?
Do these have the dual mass flywheel?

Great minds think alike, I have no idea why we both thought the same thing though
Sounds to us like your dual mass flywheel is FUBAR :nerd:

Tbh my 1999 Leon felt the same when I had to get the clutch plate changed :(
-
You need to speak to the garage you bought it from mate.
How's your modding coming on?
-
It must just be me but it feels fine today? Maybe because I've been so used to an auto?
Doc, Monday sees the first mods of de-badging and my HIDS :) may clean the engine bay as there seems to be a lot of oil near the drivers headlamp area? :S

Was getting worried for you, Dan. Glad it's ok.
You are going to be a very busy bee for a couple of months. How exciting. It's going to be such good fun reading your posts about the mods. All the best.

You still haven't said what you mean by wobble Dan?
What year is this 2.0 TDI?
-
Keith, its 2009, I've read the pulsating problem you've had and had the same problem with my old Leon fr, but this was last night when pulling away it would judder under my foot and make the car judder aswell. It may been me being unkind to it as its seems better today plus I've had an auto for the part year.
-
Well a juddering clutch normally points to a bad clutch plate or pressure plate. As regards if it will be covered under warranty is the iffy bit. They would have to remove it and examine the cause. Now clutch plates are like brake pads they wear in service so it will depend on how good your relationship with the dealer is.
I've read reports with users with clutch release bearing problems and they replaced the bearing under warranty but they charged him for a clutch plate that was worn. You take it back to the dealer and explain the problem and see what they say?
-
You stand more chance getting something done the sooner you act. Seeing as you have just bought it, I would expect that rectified but you must act quickly
-
Yeah, I'm gonna ring on Monday, it's not as bad as it was last night, but my CR170 Leon wasn't like this.
They also haven't stamped the 40,000 miles service, what is carried out on this? The car seems to have been set up on the long life servicing but god knows whether it has always had the longlife oil :S

They use longlife oil whether its the short 10k or long 20k service interval. Longlife oil (http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/volkswagen-world/faq/servicing?csearch=longlife oil) For further information please click here at the bottom to open or download Longlife_servicing.pdf.

So what's done at 40k? On my Leon FR, 40k was a fairly big service, why can't buying cars ever be simple? :(
-
Well the longlife 40k service checks by Autodata are
