Title: People's views on this....
Post by: dom on 18 February 2011, 11:20
I know that Snow Foam lances have been done to death, but i've had a search on here and can't find anything about this particular one.

I was having a browse on ebay and came across this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Valet-Adjustable-KARCHER-Snow-Foam-Lance-Bottle-0-6-/190503109506?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item2c5adec382) Karcher Lance. It is a lot cheaper than most others on there, but it is also smaller. Does it look ok to people or should it be avoided? :undecided:

Cheers

Dom

interesting find Dom but tbh i dont think it will cut the mustard unless its internal design is similar to the proper snow foam guns may be wrong though, to me it just looks like the foam bottle ive got on my stihl and nilfisk pressure washer, they do foam to a point but they dont produce thick foam of a shaving foam consistancy.

i'll have a browse on DW and see if theres any reviews on it

Autobrite lance is probably the way to go, I got mine off eBay & cannot fault it! It's about £50 tho but you only get what you pay for ;)

I've already got a Karcher pressure washer, so would need a Karcher lance really

@ Purple Haze, any info you can find would be appreciated

You specify the adaptor with the lance depending on what pressure washer you have

I've had the Autobrite lance for approx 4 years and its awesome

What is the benefit of this foam washer, why not just use the two bucket method lol

This is the pre-wash stage

With a well prepped car this will remove the majority of the dirt and grime before you attack it with your mitts

Out of interest roughly how many washes will you get with a 5L bottle of foam?

quite alot Dom, you only put 1 to 2" which is around 100/150ml of solution in the bottle and top the rest up with warm water and you will proberly only use half that mixture on one wash.

Cheers :afro:

One final question from me (as it saves another thread) when using Dodo Juice Lime Prime is it worth using a Glaze afterwards? If so can anyone recommend one?

This detailing business is like an addiction

no probs Dom happy to help.

you dont have to as a rule because lime prime is quite high in glazing oils anyway but i tend to use britemax blackmax glaze after and it always wows me even though i know how its going to perform.

Too me this seems a more pricey lazy way of cleaning haha?!? I'm gona stick too the hand washing + a jet wash me thinks, maybe when the new job comes about I may dip in the pocket and try this foam method

Its a crucial stage in the washing process.....

Jet washing will not remove half as much of the crud as the foam lance will.  And if you use one of those horrible garage jet washes all you'll be doing is stripping the paintwork of any wax you might have applied

1. Never gave a car much tlc in regards too cleaning before.
2. I will next week attempt my first propper wash. As I have gone an spend quite abit on the bits and bobs needed, I normally use my mate next door's jet wash. Or the hose lol.
3. Gona be washing it with the mit anyway  will have a good look over polishing methods etc over the next few days, as not sure if you can just use microfible cloths too polish with?

Microfibres are fine to buff off with but you should be applying it with an applicator pad really
