Oks i ve finally desided to sort my Thermostat out as it doesn't go to 90 on the clocks, where is the placement of the Thermostat on the AGR and what do i need to replace it, as is the Thermostat the same across the range i ve seen the guide but its for a 1.8t so would it be in the same place.
the car:
2000 Mk4 Golf TDi SE [AGR90]

i have one . . . . somewhere lol been looking for it for about a week now i think its in my mates old Audi 80 but may be in his house or at work or in my house lol i use it a lot as the golf has lots of problems well did use it a lot lol like my phone did last week it well find it self :grin:
regarding the Thermostat which i need to replace is there a generic Thermostat across the golf range ? part wise i am guessing i need G++ and Thermostat anything else.

oks had it scanned and got this
17664 - Engine Coolant Temp Sensor (G62): Open or Short to Plus
P1256 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
so need to change that is that whats in the pic above?

oks i ve replaced the Temp sensor one thing down so just want to sort the Thermostat out wheres the placement of the Thermostat is it were i ve indicated on the image on end of that pipe going to the engine

Yeah its where you outlined in pink and go for a genuine one.. Not worth having to replace it again..
I bought one from a motorfactors and one from TPS and the genuine from TPS was far better quality.
Word of warning, cover your alternator to ensure the water doesnt get on it as i didnt and ended up having to replace my alternator :angry: which cost me £110
