My car was on the long life service plan unil I bought it in March 2010. Its now on the time and distance service plan and is due one next month. I asked at the VW garage how much they would charge (my car has currently done 59k miles) and they said it would be £295! I thought that was a rip off? What do you guys think?
Im gonna take my car to my friendly local garage for the service anyway, but as I was at VW anyway I thought I might as well ask!

Yeah dont forget that it is the 60k mile service where the cambelt needs changing. Whilst its all stripped down you might aswel get the waterpump done too.
Check if the VW service includes the cambelt and if it does, that sounds like a great price!

They did the cam belt before I bought the car in March 2010 at 51k miles. Unfortunately they didn't change the waterpump as they said it didn't need doing

According to the VW website a major service (60,000 mile) should be £249...and a minor service (after another year/10,000 miles) should be £129.
Or if you sign up for two years worth of servicing (in theory a major plus a minor) it is only £349...plus you will get two MOTs free.

I haven't managed to work out the catch yet...!!!

My GTi is due it's 60k mile service in another 3k miles or so VW quoted me £329 for the major service. £249 seems like a bargain but I can't quite work out what the VW site is actually promising.
Can anyone elaborate!

Thing is I had my major service last year when my car was on 51k. They changed the cam belt, new brake fluid and re-gassed the air-con. they did not however change the waterpump. This was all done just before I bought the car.
So now this March my car is only due a minor service and £295 is a piss take! Ill be taking it to my friendly local garage and the cost will be nearer the £200 mark.

Anyone booked this yet? Is it £249 for a major service as it suggests (I assume this isn't longlife?)
-
Had my 60k service today at my friendly local garage today. Cost me £150 compared to the main dealers quote for £295! Not only that but they used long life oil as well to my pleasant surprise, despite being on the time and distance service plan.
F**k you main dealer rip off c**ts!
