Title: G60 / VR6 front caliper piston size.
Post by: dan7 on 16 February 2011, 19:42
I have a pair of (Girling) front G60 calipers, carriers and discs. I'm halfway through refurbing them and need new piston seals. I've been told the VR6 piston is the same size, but I've read different. I want to buy the seal kit on Ebay, but all they have is the VR6 seal kit, not the G60 one. I need to know piston sizes before I purchase. Anybody know the truth?!

54mm for 256/280mm, mk3 gti/vr6 had same 280mm setup up to 1996 then they switched to 288 which have different calipers.  vw sell the kit if your stuck, but try here, kit BR205415:

I knew you'd come to the rescue Jonny! I did see these on Ebay, just didn't dig deep enough! I've bought a set from a G60 Rado, as that's what mine came off. Now, next question Jonny: Where can I get OEM pale gold high temp paint for the carriers & calipers? Thanks again btw.

yeah its a coating rather than a paint, there are a few zinc paints out there which are a close match :)
