I recently had the 3C8 version of the VW bluetooth fitted (cheers Darren ) and am using it with an iphone 3gs, it works like a dream apart from one little gripe, when i receive a txt the kit doesn't make a sound! no notification what so ever, can anyone shed any light on this for me?
And don't say get a different phone as that is not an option.
cheers

Neither does mine with a Blackberry. Peace at last!
Do you get text message readouts on the head unit? I don't have this facility and it does not bother me one bit.
Oh, and I switch the phone off whilst driving. It's me time to enjoy the car and my music.

No txt readouts but thats fine by me tbh, i knew that it would'nt work with the iphone before i had it fitted. Why did you bother having bluetooth fitted if you switch the phone off?

Because I am a greedy old sod and wanted the facility when needed. I have it switched on in the morning only to call work if I am going to be late due to traffic. We all have our little quirks.
Tis true, some more than others.
Thanks for responding on cue!

The text message part of the kit only works properly on phones with rSAP (Remote Sim Access Profile) which the iPhones don't have, when I use my Nokia 8800 the rSAP works fine and you can write texts on the head unit and also read your texts on both the head unit and the MFD, you can even get the car kit to read out the text messages for you if you so desire.
The call quality is also much better on rSAP.

Yeah, i read about not being able to read txts with the iphone but it's the txt alert thats bugging me!
-
What does the iPhone do when using the headphones? Does the text alert come through? Bluetooth is handsfree profile (HFP), so up to phone to tell head unit to make a noise.
-
If the headphones are connected so using it as an ipod, the normal msg alert comes through the headphones.
-
Is there nothing in the Iphone, like on the Nokia's where you can change the alerts in the profiles? it maybe turned off while switched to handsfree???
Hope every working fine J?
Darren
