hey i dont know if anyone could help on this front but here we go.
2 days ago driving my 1.4 8v golf to work it went BOOM. admittedly i was giving it some beans at the time. Engine died for about 15 seconds before kicking back into life with a huge cloud of black behind me.
the car ran fine or the rest of that day (15 miles). and now as of yesterday and today she likes to bellow white smoke out of her exhaust just when she feels. she only blew out amounts of white smoke today for about 6 minutes in 3 seperate bursts.
I know it cant be a head-gasket cause it would be continuous smoke not on the random.
anyone any ideas or am i just too paranoid?
Thanks

I wouldn't rule out head gasket failure. Do the obvious checks such as water level and oil in water / water in oil (white 'mayonaise' type gunk).
Best of luck though...

cheers for that dude, all my oil/water wasn't contaminated yesterday but ill have another check today. its always one thing after another.

ha ha i can confirm its the head gasket now, i took her for a little run around the block the day after she was sweet, went to put her in garage she ok open garage she ok, turn around to get into car and she starts bellowing out the white smoke and there is a fair bit of water in the oil, thats a job to keep me busy come payday.
cheers for the replys too all =)
