Got a call today from my VW dealer to say they've finally got me a set of Vancouver 18s in to swap with my standard shadows :smiley:They were probably going to do the old salesman trick of just ordering a car with a set on and swop yours onto the new car, then they hit a slight snag
This was part of the original deal when buying the car as I thought the alloys didn't add to the cars looks. It's only taken 5 months as they haven't had a set come in since and i was beginning to doubt id ever get them sales guy ive been dealing with has been spot on and the new ones have only covered 6k and he tells me are 'mint' which is just what I wanted.
Tyres on my current alloys only have a couple of thousand miles left in them so a good time to change!
Off down this week to do the swap

If I'd ordered my car I'd have had the wheel upgrade as I like the charlestons and didn't really like the standard wheels, but after living with the standard wheels I like them a lot, they never look dirty and the ride is great

I can see why you prefer the vancouvers, welldone. What do think of GTD ?
I don't mind the Seattles, I really like the Vancouvers but I loooooooooove the Charleston Shadows.:grin:  decisions decisions!!
I nearly threw in the towel and traded the GTI for a GTD last year when they were announced (not that nearly really, but was tempted).
Next car for me (pipe dream really as the GTI is staying for ever) would be 5 door GTD in any colour you like, DSG and Charleston Shadows. Re-map, RNS and Bobs yer Mums cousin twice removed.
Or an ED35, or an R, or, or, or.........anything really......

Well after owning an ED30, i thought i would hate the diesel engine, only took me about a week to get used to it. Would i buy another GTD yes i would no problem, and i'm hoping the next one is twin turbo, we live in hope?
The DSG is ace with diesel too sounds lovely.
The GTD has a sound generator on it,sounds brilliant when you open it up :cool:Well after owning an ED30, i thought i would hate the diesel engine, only took me about a week to get used to it. I've never actually been fortunate enough to hear the GTD as a DSG. Does it come with the same characteristics i.e. pop on Gear change as the GTI DSG? Any good You Tube links? I got bored searching!
I just F***in kerbed one of mine tonight what a mess it is , Sick as a dog feeling when i did it

The problem with the Vancouvers are they are diamond cut like the Monzas.how much was a new wheel ? :undecided:
When I hit a kerb I was told by a few local places that the cost to fix would be around £120 but because they were diamond cut the finish wouldn't be the same as the other wheels. Although to be honest I don't think it would be that noticeable.
Unfortunately I ended up buying a new wheel from VW

Steve. The Vancouvers are in the region of £400
Not sure if you can get cheaper via TPS or GSF?
