Hiya, i had the same problem on my 16v after and engine swap,
i just got the oil pressure switches from the donor car and used them, it now never buzzes at me anymore.
On an 8v there is one above the oil filter and another one on the right hand side of the engine, as u stand infront of the car.
-
its good to know its only the pressure switch, a nice cheap repair
cheers for the advice
-
if it happens when going round corners its normally an indication that the oil is too low so as it sloshes to one side of the sump the pump can't pick it up. but you say the oil level is fine?? errm don't know!!!
-
Gotta say i agree with gtijoe. Double check your oil level and make sure its topped up to the max.
-
oil level spot on max
-
Make sure the yellow plastic piece on the dip stick is all there, they do break and it could be making the dip stick go down that bit further than it should, giving you an incorrect oil level! only a couple of quid to replace :)
-
mines is red and it has already been replaced
-
pick up pipe for the oil pump could be gumbed up with crap can cause insuffucent pressure.
-
hope not, going to replace oil pressure switch and see how it goes

BE VERY CAREFUL
THE VERY SAME THING JUST HAPPENED TO ME LAST WEEK! :embarassed:
I CHANGED THE SWITH AND BUZZER, WENT OUT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND THE ENGINE DIED ON ME,
got a friend to bring his trailer, just cos i knew there was something wrong major,
i got home checked the oil level which was fine, and then i took the oil filler cap off, which to my shock and dismay i found a custard cream liquid equaling head gasket!
get your head checked dude!!!!
hope you dont have the same problem as me!

That creamy liquid is a b*****d.
Still more likely to be the switch - if not the damage is probably already done dude!
Good luck.
-
replaced both switches sorted!
looking forward to driving it again
cheers for the advice guys
