i heard my exhaust blowing the other day so today i got under car from drivers side and about a foot back from the engine is a torpeedo shaped box and on the side of it was a hole that was proud of the box it looks like something should be in the hole anyone any ideas the hole was about 6-10mm diameter
-
Its not the hole for the lambda sensor is it? You got any loose wires knocking about?
-
couldnt see any wires its on an early 93 model gti i couldnt see any threads in the hole either
-
Was it towards the rear 1/4 of the cat? There's two places u can put the lamba sensor on the 92-93 cats 1 at the front n 1 at the back. Same thug happened to mine. Just get some1 to weld the hole up for ya. U find that the crap noise will go, there b more power n ur fuel economy will b much better!!
-
+1 especially if the hole is perfectly round and has threads on the inside of it. Either weld it up or try and find a plug that will fit it. Some garages carry these as ive used sump plugs in the past with the same thread on them.

Sump plug will or should fit, check you have a lambda sensor fitted 1st.

We had this on a cabby at work. Hole, deffo not for the lambda on the cat, no threads and causing a noise. Really strange. :undecided:

drill and tap it out then stick a bolt in there if you haven't got access to a welding plant.
-
looks like its already drilled so just need to tap it thanks for your help yet again guys
