Roughly adding your recipts in your heads how much do rekon your golf has cost you since you aquired it?
BE TRUTHFUL NOW
-
Not a lot really.
But then again, look at the vr6 go
-
not as much as everyone seems to think, i'm very good at coming across rare/cheap/odd stuff and getting bargains and if i add up what i made back from selling these parts on eventually i was almost breaking even!!!
i'll do a calculation................
-
in total that is counting all reciepts going back to 95ish roughly ?7100 of which i rekon about ?1500 not bad cause that includes a respray.
"nothing is as reliable as a volkswagon" now i know why
-
So what have you spent that 7k on?
-
the old white 16v set me back about 1500 over the 2 years i had it. say about half n half on maintenace and mod's
the latest one has set me back about ?70, and that was the cost of the ferry from Isle of Man to Belfast
-
the other 7k is what every other owners spent on it>>>.lol
-
Well so far I have spent:-
?425 on the car
?60 on a new cambelt and fitting
?10 on the light eyebrow
?25 on Half tint 16v lights
?30 on clear front indicators and side repeaters
?27 on some more bottle top alloys (Now not used)
?50 on some 15" TSW blades with tyres
?60 on some Kenwood 6x9's
?30 on leads, dizzy cap and rotary arm
Total = ?717
The mini is another story. Inluding purchase price she owes me well over ?12k!!!!!!
-
 about 2500 since August!!!!!!!!!
i really could bloody cry now...........dint realise it was that much.
thats where all my compensation went!
but thats alpine ice,
porsche leathers,
coil overs and loads of other little bits.  :embarassed:
oh yeah plus 500 for the car so thats 3000
-
I reckon the golf (including purchase cost of ?3500) has cost around the 7-8k mark, but there has been a lot of modifications done to it
The Corrado has a total bill of around 11k. But I am trying to keep the look standard, and just "tweak" the engine a little bit.
It sounded a lot when I started totalling it all up! I think buying that Porsche would have been a cheaper option after all!
-
I have spent approx ?1000 on my mk3, but need to get a little paint done on the front end so its needs another ?200-300 spending on it.
The GL has had a new set of plugs air filter oil change and a PAS belt, totalling approx ?40
So not bad really
-
:embarassed:
Car 1700
Wheels and tyres 1400
Suspension 500
Grille 100
Fuel cap 60
Wing 120
Lights 60
Other bits inc new alarm probably around 1000.
Total around 5k... :embarassed:
-
The car was 7K and it's had about 2K spent on it :undecided:

i agree i think one of the reasons golfs seem so reliable is simply the amount of money spent on even an average one, i remember mk1 cabrio's coming into my parents body shop at 10 years old or so at an age where a lot of other makes were run into the ground, i think the cult status of the cars has helped this as certinly the cabrio never really reached banger levels of cash meaning they were generally simply better looked after, most of the older golfs tend to be gti and cabrio that are still in good condition
-
it is a shame vw don't really accept the cult status there cars have!
-
ive spent about 3k on my gti  it not more
-
THE SPORTLINE.
?4200 to buy
?400 on a head gasket rebuild and new clutch
?550 on bbs splits and avon z3 tyres
?250 on a new mohair hood.fitted.
not bad in 16 months!!!
THE VALVER.
?1200 to buy
?500 on engine maintainance.
?700 on a new ai606 alarm and ice install.
?900 on bbs splits refurbished and tyres.

they are the only german manufacturer i can think of who consider 10 years obsolete and stop stocking parts. the other big 2 bmw and mercedes both stock parts for older cars including manuals. mercedes even improve on their older parts with development
-
They just want us to buy there newer cars!
-
about 3.5K in 4 years?
-
My Oakie cost me ?300, and I have spent 1300 on it, including an LPG conversion which I dont think was too bad.
That does incluse things like tyres, exhausts etc.
