Title: How the hell? Sump removal.
Post by: Bellend on 09 February 2011, 21:02
I've done many sump gaskets on various cars but WTH.

This 1.6 right, the two right next to the gearbox, remove little cover, done, but it's impossible to get anything other then an allen key in and they are half over the gearbox line, so the allen key goes on wonkey. Someone has tried and screwed them up before.

ANY ideas on this? I'm actually thinking of machining two groves in the botom of the gearbox casing to do it.

Or I will drill the heads off and un screw it to replace.

Can you not get a ball end allen key in there on an angle.

I remember them two bolts, they were a fecking pain in the bum hole.

Patience and some more patience is what's needed. I found them x10 as hard to screw them back in than to unscrew them.

As adi said, get a ball end allen key so you don't round them off to put them back on wonky.

OK cool.

Cheers, I'll get some 1/4"/1/2" drive ones and give it a go.

Don't think it will, think it's drill time tbh.

Cheers tho.
