Title: Mk5 Rear badge/handle
Post by: MK7 Rob on 08 February 2011, 23:36
Hi, does anyone know the cost of a new rear badge/handle from VW?  Mines corroded and needs replaced.
Thought about spraying it black but like the original look.  I believe the later mk5 badges are of better quality? - My car is a early mk5 gti 2005.

Hello.

I did mine about 6 months ago, also a 2005. It was around £90 for the badge from VW so not cheap. My original one was 'flat' but the replacement one has a raised VW emblem if that makes sense. Anyway, its supposed to be better and not suffer from the white corrosion which also affects the wheel centre caps.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, will go up to my local VW dealer this weekend to see if they have any in stock.
Thought they would be more than £90 - I've seen them on ebay second hand going for silly money.

I got mine replaced at the same time as the glovebox (wanted to remove the phone kit without leaving holes) and I got the glovebox and new style raised badge for around 40 or 50 quid off of www.breakerlink.com. Had to wait a few days but was less than a week. For just the badge you should get it even cheaper. Also if you get results emailed to you off of breakerlink rather than text you don't have to pay a fee.
