Hi i have a problem with my stearing, when i turn left or right there is a knocking and as of today when im driving in a straight line the stearing shakes rather badly. Can any one give me advice of what my problem is pls as i want to get it sorted soon rather than later.
Thanks. :undecided:

Rack problem, air in the system or top mounts.
-
thanks for you comment, don't think it is mounts as i had them checked last week plus i had a new front engine mount put in as the other one broke...
will keep the air in the system in mind and the rack thanks again

Check and see if the belt is slipping
-
i'm not that good under the bonnet lol, what belt am i looking for?
-
Just in front and to the left of the engine as your looking at it, you will see the alternator with a belt attatched. if you have a lood down below that, you will see a smaller and thinner belt. That is the power steering belt.

ok coolio thanks i'll take a butchers tomorrow

check your drive shafts buddy they start knocking on corners first then as they get really knackered and the bearings start to break up you get wobble noise and then no drive when they totally go.quick way to test handbrake on, put on full lock, grab the drive shaft and see if you can turn it forwards backwards if you can its knackered also check for up and down movement and in and out
