I just got my first reminder to renew my car tax and guess what its 125 quid :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug: :smug:

So far this year i have had to pay in road tax.
£125
£30
£180
-
Despite knowing this outlay prior to purchasing my GiT..............ITS NOT FAIR !!!!
On a slightly positive note, I am getting approx 38mpg currently. My previous Nissank 1.8 Petrol was giving me approx 33mpg on similar daily journey's !
Good 'ol injectors !
PS Obviously, having more fun than in the Nissank too !

I don't think £1.04 a week in highway robbery tax over a deisel is that much to suffer.

Kenneth - Yeah baby !
Snoops/Stevie-boy - True, when you put it like that. Though, I would have thought that the GTDieseasel drivers would save more than approx £53 a year on road tax compared to a Petrol? I guess, the rest is made up in insurance, fuel, running costs etc. This is the only time I am envious, but love you all the same

Just taxed my mk6 GTI this afternoon  Which is why i knew it was £180
Guess you have to think yourself luckie and its not a late mk5 R32 at £400+
My mk1's the most expensive one in my fleet at £205. The other 3 are so old there free.

I just shoved some fuel in my GTI earlier and it was £1.26 a litre. The black pump was £1.30 a litre, had big oily stains all around it and stunk. Nowt worse than going into the kiosk to flirt with the lady assistant, then handing over your debit card with a stinky hand!!!
What I also didn't mention was that it was my elderly Ibiza GTI I was filling up that runs on 95 RON rather than the pricier 97 stuff that goes in the Golf.....shh

Spent £72.59 for a full tank yesterday and will get me less than 300 miles
Still, I wouldn't swap it for a diesel

GT 140's are £90 for road tax and legally as fast as any car here... :lipsrsealed:
-
I managed to squeeze 400 miles out of my GTi the other fortnight. But I was so bored doing it I may as well have had a diesel.
So I now I just say **** it. I floor it on the country roads and just cruise on the motorway. I end up with about 34/34.5 mpg which I don't think is too bad.
Petrol's 5p a litre less around here too.

Lets see if you say the same thing in 6 months time jimmy, when it goes through the roof
-
5p less than diesel I meant to say.
-
And that's also why the wife drives a diesel. So I don't have to have one!!!!!!

I use Tesco Momentum so I pay the same as the tree hugger

Dsg that's why Keith , you know it makes sense
-
I was gonna post abou my tax being £110 too - the reminder came through yesterday...an extra £15 cos you have DSG?
Well I didnt know that.
-
TDi - secshun?
Edit: to add some value to this post, it will be interesting to see just what happens to the cost of tax, seeing as emissions legislation is getting tighter and tighter for diesel vehicles (I.E. Euro 6 emissions will be CO2 - 0.50, NOX - 0.08, PM - 0.005 all in g/km).
Question is, will this be reflected in even cheaper tax for our cars come 2014 or will they just reband them again to keep making a revenue..... :undecided:
-

Yes I didn't see that in your spec so it does make £15 difference.
Has road tax gone down because I'm sure it said £125 on my disc last year when I picked it up?
-
TDi - secshun?
There was a reason he didn't post this thread in the TDI section - he wanted to rub GTI owners noses in it!
If anyone wants to add boring CO2 emissions and legislation info they can indeed sod off to the TDI section!!! Yawn
-
Sorry, where was my clarkson head...
POOOOOOOOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

-
I think they lowered the emissions on the GTD at some point may i think 2010.
-
Nothing has changed co2 wise, the gtd just fell into lower category when changes in road tax bands came in last year : )
How's the motor ajmoir?
