Title: Mk3 GTI leccy windows
Post by: Gecky on 08 February 2011, 15:29
Another Mk 3 another faulty window, passenger side goes down fine but with a bit of a clonk, when you try to put it up it goes really slowly then stops and goes down again like its hitting something, it will go up with a bit of brute force with a big clonk about halfway any ideas???

Don't have any ideas on how to fix but mines does same thing just on drivers side and with out clonk goes half way then down need to push the button about 40 times before it goes fully up.

Sounds like something blocking the reg, my drivers rear was playing up, would go down but not up?! took the door card off and took reg out, still wired in, found a little plastic clip was worn out. Made a new on from a piece of metal, sorted!!!

Id say take the door card off and have a scan inside! Maybe the cable needs greasing.

Let us know how you get on!

Didn't think about the cable needing greasing I'll give it a going over with Teflon spray see if that works then grease it up if it does. Let you know how I get on, cheers.

I think theres a certain amount of play - left to right when you do the bolts up onto the bottom of the window. It might just need undoing an moving over a bit!
