Hi guys been a while since i last posted on the mk1 section, been off the scene as im not owning a mk1 anymore
My dad has a mk1 gti now and he has bought a mk2 8v engine for it, he wants to know (as he has fitted a new mk2 clutch on it) whether it'll mate up ok when putting the mk1 gearbox on or has he done a mistake getting a mk2 clutch and is needing a mk1 clutch instead?
Thanks fellow vaggers!

yep mk2 8v clutch will be fine with a mk1 gti gearbox. only thing is if you have a 1.6 gti flywheel, these are 200mm whereas the 1.8 mk2 clutch is 210mm. just fit a mk2 210mm flywheel and bobs ya uncle

nice one for the response, ye its basicly a mk1 1.6 gti gearbox going on a mk2 8v engine, he just replaced the clutch with a new mk2 8v clutch not thinking whether it'll go together or not. i thought it would go together but just wanted it confirmed.
thanks bud
