Title: Front wheel, slips and makes a noise like a tractor changing gear!!!
Post by: 20Benson on 02 March 2005, 11:56
Only recently noticed this due to the snow but when moving off in my Golf Mk 4 GTi T (1999) the car starts creeping forward but then the front left hand side wheel doesn't seem to grip and slides on the spot. They are 18inch wheels not the standard ones!

IS obviously really noticeable in the snow but when dry there is quite often a judder on that same side and a bit of wheel spin when setting off, especially if booting it a little.

This morning in the snow it was slipping on this one side for ages, and then started to make a noise like when a old farmer changes gear on a tractor! (Not a good noise?)

Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Is it the diff?

I have no idea but think its quite serious and wanna get it sorted!

Any help much appreciated VW guru's!
