Title: gti 8v starter problem

Ive just bought a gti 8v on a 97 plate. It was a non runner and have just fitted a new wiring harness from the ignition to the fuse box as the main live was burnt due to rubbing on a bolt.

My problem is when i tried to start it the starter wouldnt work, i have dash lights on and the battery is fine. I bridged out the the starter and it started turning so i know its not the starter.

Ive tried searching but cant find anything like this can anyone help?

spot on stripped it out today will get one tomorrow, an linked out the plug and it turns over but no spark so got an ignition module coming tomorrow fingers crossed she fires up will be worth the £250 ive spent so far including the car  :smiley:
