Title: temp sensor (faulty) ?
Post by: daz veedub on 05 February 2011, 16:26
i replaced temp sensor few weeks ago (genuine vw)  and temp gauge was still sitting on 70, so monday just gone had cambelt, waterpump and thermostat change, plugged in fault code reader an code 16500 engine coolant temp sensor....implausible signal, am guessing its a faulty temp sensor, if its the case then will contact vw and ask them to change for another as i still have the receipt..
or could it be something else ??

Disconnecting battery wont wipe codes, and there's an access panel for tank pump under the rear seats.

I'd try takin sensor back, if that dont work then check wiring
