Hi all, I have the abs light on so i checked all the sensors and the osr was way different, off i went to gsf and got me a new one, as soon as i got home i plugged it in expecting the light to turn off but it didn't  , do i need to reset something or is it down the the pump
Thanks all
-
I believe it will sort it's self out. Maybe go somewhere safe and brake hard to see if that restets it
-
You may have to reset the ABS light with suitable diagnostic equipment to clear the fault codes it has brought up!
-
thanks
do i need to take the rear disk off to fit the sensor
-
It depends on whether you break the old one when removing it which tbh is highly likely. It's not a difficult job to fit them, just irritating when they snap.
-
It will need the codes clearing.
-
Vagcom is your friend
-
OK if i can fine somewhere dry tomorrow I'll give it a go
thanks again
-
Most likely will snap. But the mk3 can also suffer with controller problems also. So vag com would be a good buy.
-
I have got vag com but only iv only had it about a month and dont know how to use it, iv not had time to sit down and have a good look
-
I take it from later on asking if you need to take the disc of that you have plugged this sensor in not fitted hoping the code will go?
You need to fit the new sensor, then take it for a drive and if that is the only fault it will clear itself. You dont need Vag.com etc for this. Over the years i replaced all of my abs sensors at least once (buy cheap buy twice).
There is a how to thread on here about removing them but i found the easiest way is to smash it into bits with a chissel and pull the bits out.
You might also need to sand down the case of the new sensor to get it to fit as i found the replacement ones were not a good fit.

Every single one ive done over the years i had to sand down the casing to some degree, some took more effort than others admittedly.

Yeah i agree, i normally bolt it in half way, it gets stuck, remove it, sand it, refit, gets stuck, remove, sand more, swear a lot and after about 6 attempts get it in place.
Also watch you knuckles on the brake disc when u bashing it out!

Again thanks to every one,
f it im going out in the rain
-
Ok all done, it was pissing it down and a bit Windy but i was going to get this done, i tried to tease it out with a blunt chisel but it broke off flush  so off come the disk only took 10 Min's so not too bad. BUT light is still on iv only took it for a little drive so tomorrow I'll give it a good run soon as i find out why its started running bad.

ps it was the OSR sensor
