Hi , i have a mkIII 2.0 8v from 1997.
I want to tune up the engine but not put an other engine just keeping the 8v.
Now i was wondering wat setup can i put for a lot of horsepower.
The car wil not be used daily anymore , just meetings.
Can anyone give me names of parts , sites , online shops ,...
All the info is welcome.
thx a lot,
Greets Wesley

A quick search around will find that there is not a lot you can do to an 8v. Especially to get a LOT more HP as you want. It is going to be more cost effective to get a 16v or VR6 in there in the log run (from what I have seen anyway).

sell it and buy a mk4 1.8t

Panel filter and air box mods, change the cam and you should see some gains.

Strip all the lard of it.

As said above, it's a very tricky engine to tune. Without going down the forced induction route you'll be doing very well if you can get it up to 150bhp, which is what the 16v is as standard. Even then you'll be having to spend a fair amount of money to do that, seems pointless if you ask me.
Either start with a 16v/VR6 and turbo it, or drop a 1.8T into it, neither of those are cheap options though.

cold air feed, pannal, filter, cams, 4 branch, recon head and good servive thats what i did to mine and still prefer it to a 16v motor
