Title: mk 4 golf rear bearings?

got a humming noise coming from the back , had it diagnosed as the rear bearing and been told ya cant just replace the bearing the whole hub need's replacing? is this right? also been quoted £59 for a hub is there anywhere cheaper to buy a new 1 from?

Thats about the going rate. May be cheaper on ebay.

You will need some pullers to remove the bearings

so do i have to renew the whole hub rather than just being able to renew the bearings?

I've replaced one before and it was the hub.
