been looking at the mk2 more recently and thinking further along the project...
theres been a few sets of mk5 golf GTI interior seats come up on the bay and here and i tihnk they are comfortable as feck and look the nuts...
I no the front subframes would need tampering with but would the bench have any chance of fitting or would it need butchering to pieces ?? Also could heated seats be made to fit with a bit of splicing of wiring looms ??

no idea, but ive seen a few with mkV seats and they look the nuts :cool:

There was one in VW Driver mag a couple of months ago.
He had no rear seats though, but had a rear deck trimmed in original off the roll front seat fabric. I dare say you could have your rear bench trimmed to match.

Is the raddo one more buckety ?? as i like the buckety rear seats of the mk5 gti seats..
I wouldnt mind getting/borrowing a rear bench and seeing how far they are out.. Thing is are you going to get a good colour match if you use off the roll fabrics for the rear bench ??

they look so much better really want a set for my mkii, and think they would look grat in the mkV material

over on edition a set of MKV tartan fronts jsut went for £480!!

yer theres a set of front and rears in classifieds for £400 odd..
Quite like a raddo rear but i have to source just a rear set.. and then source material and pay someone to cover them or i might have a go at it..
So say £300-400 for the mkV seats then 150-200 to get raddo covered and then its just the price of a raddo rear bench how much you recon ??

prob i got as all my interior is in cream leather will be a a pain if i did find a bench and fitted it lol

hmm will hunt nearer the time.. will keep my eyes peeled for some mkV fronts.. might get a result and get some heated ones you never know lol

Ask one of the MK5 members to measure the width of their back seat.

Its not just the width though is it bud its probably the shape and everything lol... and we all know mk5 owners are sensitive !

MKV seats do fit as does the rear bench, seen them on a mk2 before BUT yes it needs butchering on the rear and the fronts will need new subframes set alot lower than normal ones as the seats are quite big. lovely sets though very comfy and the heated are even better. to do a good job you would have to do the door cards in interlagos material too.

Well i have AlanD from on here measuring up his rear seats for me and taking some snaps.. also the fronts dont bother me as fabricating a new subframe shouldnt be to hard.. and yer will have to get doorcards done but i will chuck them to a proper interior trimmer.. how hard will it be sourcing interlagos fabric though ??

yer definitely if i look around i probably would find it a bit cheaper but like that guy in the thread says its much thicker than fashion fabric so its made to last which is what you pay for..

Nah just had a very quick look, would be good to get a lot of it to sell on as it seems very popular. I want it to make my leathers half leather.
My brothers friends dad works in dfs so don't know if he could get some.

there as a red rallye in golf+ a few months ago with mk5 seats. id definitely go that way with mine if i had the money

Cory everything can be done on a budget just requires patience.. if i keep my eye out i will probably get some mk5 or mk6 seats at a cheap price.. i hope :grin:

u wont find them seats under 450 bud, the whole job in all will cost u nearer a grand maybe more! speak to Joe... on here he is a trimmer and will price alot of it up for you.

If you dont search you dont know.. a few mk5 guys have uprated gti seats to R32 ones and want to offload the seats to make a bit of money back on the R32's they bought so we will see.. Yer i will talk to Joe.. he has advised me on a few bits before..

too me £400-450 for a mk5 full seated interior is not expensive as some are not even that old.. 4-5 years compared the the mk2's 20 year old interior.. better looking.. more comfortable.. and if in the end it costs more it costs more not a lot you can do about that its all about pushing the envelope lol
Bargains are too be had a guy in the mk4 section won a set of 25th anniversary alloys on ebay last night for £120 full set these are currently going for £400+ so im optimistic :grin: :grin:

im still a mk2 recaros fan as they go with the era of car. blue ed1 sets gets me going every time!
what have you done to ur mk2 so far? is there a thread on here about it? must have missed it if there is :undecided:

Nothing as of yet to be honest bud pulled it off the road a few weeks ago and I've got an abf I'm about to rebuild then the fun shall start.. Going to respray the bay probably in cream and do a pretty much full restoration.. There's a build thread started but just getting ideas at the moment..

You can get the mk5 interlagos cloth from me, but last time I bought some the suppliers were getting close to the end of their stock and said they probably wouldn't bother getting anymore in. It's cheaper than £90 a meter though!

The mk5 seats are very nice, but seem to suffer from bolster wear very quickly, the foams are really bad! They use a completely different subframe but I never really looked at any close enough to see how they'd take to modification into a mk2 or similar.

Anythings possible as you know Joe.. Im sure if i get some seats me and you could make them fit somehow !! I will be in touch in the near future for some bits that need doing :wink:
