Well my LED number plates bulb units arrived today and got them fitted! Look great although will need to see once the darkness sets in tonight.
Getting a bulb out error up though! They shouldnt be bringing up any errors as they are fitted with resistors.
Is there anything I can do via VAGCOM to stop the car checking this when starting the engine? I can remember reading about a cold start check and being able to turn it off? Any VAGCOM guru's out there??? :undecided:

Kenny
I've had these on mine for some time now as it was the first upgrade I did !! They do loook sooo much better
Bought them from alltronix but they are now intermittently coming up with a bulb error although the reason I bought this set was that they are supposed to be error free - they have said I can return for checking and swap out
-
I've ordered some from VW, as per the norm they are on.......backorder

What's the vw pt no for these Doc and do they need coding in to work without buld error? Thanks Martin

Surely they will need coding as they are LEDs? Wonder if the code will work with mine, as I am still getting bulb out error.

I'll dig out the part number, I have no idea if they work out of the box, I'll hazard a guess not

I had a similar issue with my HIDS on my old Seat Leon, it seems to be the newer CANBUS wiring systems, even with warning cancellers, they would either go out or the error would come up. As posted, VAG-COM seems to be the only way.

Have you lot read this? http://www.mk6golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,81.0.html taken from the link in the maintenance sticky.

Jimble its the registration lights am having problems not the tail lights mate.

Sorry mate, is that after you tried that coding I put up?

Course you are! I really should pay more attention. :embarassed:
-
Yeah Doc, still comes up evertime. Is there anyway way in stopping the light showing up in the dash? No remove the bulb comments please
-
Hi Kenny.
p3eps has done the same to his Golf R and has not reported any problems. Maybe PM him?

Did you get your from Alltronix?
Mine are supposed to be error free but have been throwing an intermittent error recently - strangely not once this week :undecided:
Will ask Darren to look at the coding when I eventually get the RNS510.

Blimey they're bright! Look cool though mate!
-
Bloody hell. It is Christmas already!
Looking at the pictures again really blinded me. One way of keeping rear enders far away.
-
They are like xenons, lol! Except these xenons are a lot easier to fit at the rear end!
-
I'll let you know how I get on with mine when they arrive
-
Im not a fan of lighting up the number plate better it just meens if someone wants to report me for something they think i did wrong its easier for them to read my plate. It also makes it easier for the police, cameras etc to read it.
I would like my front sidelights to be that bright though.
-
I wonder if my take on this won't result in my murder.
Personally, I think they are too bright and too white and distract one's gaze from the beauty of the rear LED tail lights. It almost seems that the LED tail lights have become second class citizens.
Drivers behind might also find this distracting and not pay enough attention to the brake lights.
There is also the point that Snoops has made.
Maybe if I saw them in reality I might feel different, but from the pictures I have seen, I am not enamoured.
Sorry Kenny.
PS: They are probably brilliant as reversing lights.
-
I too think they are a lot brighter than OEM in this photo, not to my taste TBH.
-
Whilst it is nice to have some immaculate white highlights on a beautifully clean car, drawing attention to my number plate would be the last thing I wanted to do.
Unless I had a hilarious private plate. A guy I haven't seen for ages and ages owned (possibly still does) 5 EX I think it was. Now that would be worth lighting up in LEDs.
-
Ive got the LEDs in mine and to be honest there not has bright has they look in that pic, they are bright but I think the camera has exaggerated the brightness of them.

You are all LED, Xenon t@rts IMO. I now just want my DRLS, Park Lights and possibly my Fogs to be as white as my Philips H7 bulbs. Can you help me, my Helpful Hero? Any suggestions for bulbs which won't give bulb errors and will be near BNP white?

These are the ones I have in mk6 golf reg plate holders, work far better than my old mk5 holders has they where festoon bulbs and burnt out quite quickly.

These also work in the side lights and puddle lights.

£49 a pair though? It's a lot!
Plus probably still on back order :(

If those are the OEM number plate ones they still give bulb out errors unless you have the latest CE with the latest software that has the options for LED lights listed via VCDS.

What's the "CE"?

I take it my 59 plate wont have the latest CE if thats the case?
