Title: Strange engine noise

When driving my digi at 70mph+, the engine makes a strange noise. The noise seems to go up and down in waves rather than a continuous drone. In the last 12 months the car has had new dizzy cap, rotor arm, spark plugs, ht leads and had an oil and coolant change. I think it needs to be set up properly as in rubjonny's guide, which will be done as soon as I can afford the equipment, but I would like to know if it  is something else causing this so I can look at that in the meantime.

its definatley from the engine? So does the noise change if your in 4th at 70 rather than 5th or neutral?    Its not a wheel bearing drone?

Like Rob said, is it a droning noise? Tapping noise? Rattling?

What rpm does it make the noise and does it do it at the same rpm in every gear or on in top at 70?

I have only noticed it in top gear at about 70+, then goes when speed drops. Droning sort of noise but in up and down waves which I haven't heard before.

'sounds' like it could be a wheel bearing. jack up the wheels individually and give em a wiggle.
