Hi,my drivers foot well is very wet which is making the windows steam up and even freeze on the inside.I have been told it could be the pollen filter, but would this because the filter is faulty or full?
-
pollen filter housing is split
-
or after its been replaced the pollen filter cover hasnt been put back on properly.
-
as above can also be the problem but the cracking of pollen filter is a common fault on mk4's remove it all and have a look..
-
Ok,thanks for the advise....is this the most likely cause of the well being wet?
-
its a definite possibility..
-
could be other things but ide say pollen filter, defanitly be the first thing ide check as its a 2 minuit job to check. and if it does need replacing its not very expensive. if its not that it could be things like door seals ect.
if your not sure on how to check the pollen filter have a search for how to replace the pollen filter, but just use that as a guide of how to get the polen filter out and have a look at the filter and the cover/ housing for filter just to make sure theres no cracks anywere and have a look that the cover is compleatly on before you take the filter out, should be able to check tomorow before you set off for work/college/what ever it is you do/ when ever you have 5 minits spare.
-
mine sometimes freeze inside too on a really frosty morning, how would you go about checking ie where is it? :undecided: lol thanks
-
open bonet, top of bonet just below windscren, passenget side i belive.
as said do a search, few topics not so long ago about it with all the cold weather
-
Once you've found the leak you're going to have to strip the interior and dry it out otherwise it will continue to mist / freeze up
-
Checked filter this morning and was bone dry without any signs of cracks etc.Gutted now where do i look?
-
It's almost as if someone needs to write a bit on leaks for the maintenance section.

how wet is the carpet? it could just be the water off the bottom of ur feet wetting the carpet and not having time to dry out because of the cold weather?? i found the same thing with mine, so i just drive round with the heaters on the footwell setting to keep it dry..tho u do get warm feet..either that or your drivers door membrane on the metal cover that holds the window reg in is leaking?
