Hi guys and girls.. Need a engine stand for rebuilding my ABF lump wondered if this one was ok ??
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ENGINE-GEARBOX-STAND-350KG-ES350-SEALEY-TOOLS-NEW-/400187160551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5d2d0377e7#ht_2994wt_698
Its the cheapest but Sealey from what people have told me is a relatively good make and its free delivery..
Thanks in advance.. if its no good point me in right direction.. by the way im not going to be rebuilding any v10's so dont need one that can take 2tonnes lol

I also need advice on a way to lift the engine up so can hook it up onto the engine stand.. i cant afford and dont have room for a engine hoist.. in my garage i have steel beams going across that will be strong enough to withstand the weight of the engine can someone recommend a hoist or bull and chain for attaching to this beam please..

Thoughts on this ??

Most engine hoists fold up, also you can hire them much safer and more controlled then a lifting hoist
-
HSS lift & Shift or Lifting Point both hire out engine hoists for not too much money.

Depending on the width of your beams get a monkey(TROLLEY)
Or if thats no good just a good adjustable beam clamp

Then get a decent set of chain blocks, the one you linked to is very basic, will catch inside whenever your lifting so you have to keep backing off and this gets bloody annoying.
If your on a budget the range from machinemart are reasonably priced, dont catch up when lifting and as long as you whip the side cover off when you get it and lather some lithium lp2 grease around the mechanism will last ages.

Also the one you linked to is double drop, you would be much better off with single drop or you will be tugging on the chain for ages just to get it a foot off the ground.
1ton single drop is what your after.

Thanks for above will have a look in a min... i received the engine stand today and i no its budget but the quality is appalling there is runs in the paint and some bits with hardly any paint.. but the fit was very good.. nevermind suppose its only to hold an engine..
