Title: Just bought my first VW Golf Mk2 GTI 16v .... Love it!!!

At about 11am today I bought my first MK2.

I did have a MK4 but this thing is a beast. Anyhow, I thought I would check out some forums and this one seemed to be on the top of most peoples list.

I have been caning it all day and the thing is amazing.

16 Valve, 110k, Full service history, 3 door, black, single headlight conversion, big bumpers... ?700.? :smiley:

The downside!! It comes with 3 spoke alloys!! Nice! :sad:

If anyone can recomend some standard alloys that would be appreciated. The BBS look good but any feedback would be good.

I also have pics but dont know how to post them... any idea's???(http://)

Look for bbs RA or RM alloys got them on mine and it looks the muts nuts (RM)  :cool:

Nice one - I bought mine last month - Oak Green  126k, totally original ?1100, and everytime I drive it it always gets looks - dunno why I'm sooooo ugly!!

I sold my Civic Type-r last year and vowed never to buy a new car again, as I lost 2.5k in 9 months on that - jap crap :grin:!!

Nice one!! Oak green would have been my preferred colour but this car came up and it was too much of a bargain to let go. The exterior is spot on (apart from tha alloys) and I am getting it serviced this week to make sure there is nothing wrong mechanically.

I have been driving it all day yesterday and the thing is amazing. Im hooked!! :cool:

theres no better feelin that goin along at 20mph in 3rd then just puttin ya foot down to its just about to hit the limiter :evil: (on a stright qriet road)

Good choice mate the mk2 16v definately takes some beating. I've been driving them for 10years now and currently own my 5th & 6th examples. Enjoy it!!!

I ended up on a search for wheel nuts. For anyone out there looking for them just go straight to a VW Garage. Nuts are about ?2 each.

I will post some pics this w/e as the exterior is now just how I want it.  :cool:

Dont abuse the alloys too much... they will be for sale in the parts forum soon  :laugh:

They all have Pirelli P6000's on them RRP: ?260.  :shocked:

If anyone wants to make me an offer for the tyres they are welcome.  :smiley:

V. Nice, and a total bargain as well.  The BBS wheels are also the correct choice IMO.

much better without those nightmare wheels. i've got a mate who still thinks they are cool. but then again he smokes too much and has never had a decent car in his life!

 :laugh: LMFAO tell him they are for sale if he wants them!! They are currently for sale on Ebay. I am hoping there is someone like your mate out there who has got ?20 spare.

The Pirelli's are worth a lot though. ?62 a tire brand new and 3 of them are mint. I will get exact sizes on here soon as Im sure someone will be interested.  :wink:
