I'm having a nightmare with my electric windows on my MK3 VR6 and was hoping someone , somewhere outhere could help me. Windows come down on their own and sometimes both of them together and sometimes just the one!
I have diconnected the full closure side of the alarm just to eliminate this and they still bloody do it ! They come down after a couple of days again. Any ideas anyone as its driving me mad ! My seats are wet through, the dash is wet, infact, everywhere is wet inside the car.
Any ideas anyone ??
Please.......for the love of God I'm begging anyone who might show me the light to come forward.

PS ...I've used the search feature and come up with not much.

For the window problem I would look inside the door grommet. The expanding rubber tube between the door and the car body/door post.
Wires often become worn here and cause shorts.
Wetness? Do you have a sunroof? Its strange that the seats are getting wet.

The reason for the wetness is the windows opening at night when I'm dreaming(about the mods I want to do) and as you know, the weather this time of year is crappy. Woke up this morning and both windows were fully open. Its proper doing my head in.

Might be worth checking the control module, maybe damp has got into it.

Hi. Thanks for the reply....where would I locate this control module?

just take your door card off and un-plug the unit, (that will stop them from coming down ) then check all the wiring for the windows to make sure there not worn ect, if no luck in finding the problem then get some manual windows fitted. (cost next to nothing)
better than opening on there own.

To be honest.....I'd love to just go straight to manual without even looking for the problem. Electrical problems are so so boring its not even funny. One day its fine, the next it breaks.

Still having problems. I have looked in the grommet seal inbetween the door and car and the wires are not worn in anyway. Any other suggestions welcome.

could it be somet to do with central locking? or key barrels? i had a strange prob like this last winter, and when i unlocked the car the windows went down and wouldnt go back up via the switches, did my nut in, but for some reason i tried getting in the car and locking via central locking, put key in ignition and windows went back up via switch, as should do, touch wood not happened again since,
not much use really, but if one of the lock mechs arent quite open/closed may sporatically trigger windows..?

Hi....yes.....I'll look into it. Its always worth a look. I think this car wants me to give up....but I wont. I've only had it for a month or so and I'm starting to hate it already. I've got till july before I can drive again so I'm not giving up yet.
Thanks for the help.
