Title: Second trip
Post by: flc1962 on 31 January 2011, 20:21
Is there a way in the MDF to reset the second trip back to Zero before it hits its 99.99 hours and does it all on its own ?...

Also can you retro fit the 2 zone climate control ?...

Cheers Paul

Retro fit dual zone? Everything is possible, but somethings are a lot more difficult than others.

Climate control has more temerature sensors, servos on the air flaps to mix and distribute the air around the car, as well as an automaticly controlled blower to maintain the set temperatures. To swap all this would certainly be a dash out job. Add at least 2 days labour onto the cost of all the different parts required and you would be looking at a fairly hefty bill. Plus the potential for future dashboard rattles.

In all honesty, it would probably be cheaper and less hastle to change the car.

Imo it's really not worth it mate! If it hadn't been standard fit in my GTI i wouldn't have bothered with it as an option, as long as i've got AC for the odd warmish day we get in this country i'm a happy bunny. :smug:

Items like 5 doors, ACC, Climate Control, Sunroof and possibly Bi-Xenons are best ordered from the factory.

I find the Auto Climate a little frustrating on the MK6 since it lost the .5 of a degree adjustment that was on the MK5, 21.5 C being my preference.

However, I do love the way it warms the car and windscreen in an unfeasibly small amount of time from cold

Nail on head. Well put no.36
I find the climate control on the mk6 much less intuative than the mk5 version. If I want to change a setting on the mk6 I find I've got to think about it, on the mk5 cranking up the fan or moving the temp stting was just second nature, and I've owned the cars about the same amount of time (aside from the fact I owned 2 mk5s!).
You're as well off without it Paul, over rated luxury feature more at home in a limo.

Ha ha ha, superb Akser
