Does my engine code really matter to the s3 turbo i use? and would a s3 quattro turbo/manifold/oil return line and other bits and bobs work or not?
cheers
-
im not sure the oil return lines will fit... manifold should bolt striaght up.. need downpipe as well..
-
you hear about engine code this engine code that but i wana know if that makes a diffence to turbo/ manifold fitting?
i cnt see really see it
-
a k04-023 for example - the turbo and manifold what came off the car will fit a mk4 golf. The difference is how the turbo fits to the manifold.
The only turbo's that can use the standard mk4 1.8t manifold are K03, K03s and K04-001.
-
well i have some parts allready i just need turbo, manifold and oil pipes. just finiding em
will s3 manifold bolt on to my 1.8t block?
-
if thats the case get a k04-001 turbo then no need for new manifold so saved money there.. but would need new oil lines.. not sure if the S3 ones fit..
-
if i was off K04 then i wouldnt bother with a k04-001, i would just get a K03 turbo and send it off for a hybrid conversion using K04 internals of the turbo used on a rs6
-
i just found out the s3 quattro is a v5 enginge the turbo is a k04-023.
the guy says he not sure if the manifold would fit but he says i could buy one that would? im getting confused lol
-
5v not V5
-
the manifold will bolt to the Golf head as they are the same engine
-
cheers so let me get this clear, audi s3 quattro turbo/manifold will fit golf 1.8t 20v :)
-
right so the s3 quattro turbo and manifold will fit my 1.8t 20v :)
-
yes they will physically fit
-
what you have to remember though is its alot more work than just fitting a k04-023 turbo and manifold, you need oil and water lines to fit. a custom downpipe so that it'll meet up with your cat back exhaust, you'll need injectors upgrading to get the most out the turbo and the s3 ones wont fit the AGU, then you'll probs need to upgrade your fuel pump to get enough fuel to the injectors, you'll also need a FMIC and poss bigger maf housing and then get it all mapped. Alot of work and money.

Amen

+1 on that
-
power output from k04-001 and 023 are different, 001 is a straight fit but its only good for another 10bhp over the k03s.
if your upgrading to any turbo then the downpipe needs changing as its the biggest restriction, its just if your fittin an 023 then the downpipe has to be custom

If you ahve the time and the mony to do this mate then will be nice but like what Hulmie said before you could always hybrid yours and save you all the flaffing around trying to get things to fit, like down pipe and lines.
-
the K04-001 offers more than just 10bhp, it makes the torque more sustainable, better spool up and with good supporting mods could make upto 20bhp more than a k03s.
-
mine is aum, will s3 injectors fit this?
i dont mind spending money cus im goin get parts and fit and remap when i get the money. i guna get downpips done at local custom exhaust place oil and water lines coming with turbo and manifold. also s3 injectors are chucked in along with seals bolts and gaskets.
would the s3 fuel pump fit. and will i need a 4bar fpr?
-
On 1.8t originally fitted with ko3/s you also need to bend the pipe that runs alongside the block and feeds to the hoses for the heater matrix.
The ko4-023 has an egt bung on the housing and needs to be blocked up because our 1.8t golfs don't have egt sensor for the turbo.
You should also try and get ahold of the oil and water feed/returns from a 225tt, s3 or lcr, took me some time to source my parts for the ko4 upgrade on my AUM, got quite the bargain and thats the only reason Im going for the upgrade... honest
Managed to source a rebuilt ko4-023 fitted with ko4-022 housing with no egt bung, manifold, oil and water feeds/returns, 3" maf, s3 injectors for about £400 just made an offer for the dp and 3" intake pipe and waiting for an answer now. After that it's just an LCR fuel pump I need to source for my build.
After that no more power mods for me... except for the ecs lightweight pulley kit...
Also nathan.golf s3 injectors will fit into aum straight on, the s3 fuel pump will need modding to work properly in golf and no generally a 4 bar fpr is not needed for this! But a more precise answer is: it depends on your tuner.

well im getting
Turbo
injectors
exhaust manifold
downpipe with cat - wich im thinking gettin decat so might not use
oil and water lines
all nuts and bolts
£650
what else would u advise? for that sensor hole could i get it welded up
only thing its second hand of s3 so i duno about the conditions so just enquiring
-
Essentially that's pretty much it, you also need a turbo intake pipe for the ko4 as it's slightly larger intake than the ko3s. As for welding up the egt hole, I guess you could but it's a pretty large hole really and it would have to be quite a substantial weld and quite strong. Better just to change the housing or bung it up with an egt sensor but not connected obviously.
-
oh yes that would be the best option lol, well cheers i think im going to buy it now pal. thanks for help.
btw what turbos on ur car?
-
one more thing, what intake pipe should i use? i see them silicone ones samco i think make is would they work or is there a different one?

just what i read on vortex,

I got a ko3s on mine at the moment.
As for the turbo intake pipe, you should upgrade and get one of them silicon ones when you go ko4, theres definately gains to be had, not much but it's there, doesn't matter which one you go for to be honest because the gains aren't massive and there's little difference between them.

Not a bad price then theres one or two on ebay now for more than that
-
Yea it's not bad but still a couple of hundred more than what i paid
when you thinking of fitting you kit? Im waiting till it gets a bit warmer lol
-
wel im waiting for bloke to ring me back so can sort payment for it
then im waiting a month so i can buy remap and anything else i need
im thinking about fitting my self because theres a really good guide and im pretty good with my hands, may take time but it worth it.
