Title: 8v Digi heater problem
Post by: GolfDan on 27 February 2005, 09:48
Could anyone please give me some clues as to what is wrong with my motor? The heater is blowing cool/cold air after I have been sitting in traffic for a short while and then warms again after the engine temp drops! I'm no mechanic so havet got a clue what to do for the best.

Cheers in advance

sounds like it could be air in the system,
when its cold take cap off header.
put heater on full hot, and the fan on max
start car n when its warm air should stard bubbeling up
but when mind did it had 2 help it a bit, so jamed the throttel open a bit with a brick, at about 2000rpm,
just a fast tickover,
that sorted the job

My car has a similar problem.

The heater is very inconsistent, most of the time it is cold.

Does the car have to be completely cold before I remove the header cap? or would it be alright if I just left it for a little while? I understand there is a bit of pressure in the tank while the car is hot.

It is an 86 kjet.
