I also noticed this random plug when taking our boot trim off. :undecided:
I've just read that thread and am thoroughly confused now! The general consensus is that its for number plate lighting on a Bora then?
-
yes, its the one on the right in the first link.
-
does the golf and the bora use the same wiring tho? id imagine the bora would be different as it has to be longer to reach the boot.
i noticed this plug on mine too
-
would it be for remote boot pop by any chance?..

wires are quite thin, any solenoid would burn it out, my guessing is its summit to do with a microswitch to detect something, just dont know what

in my second post the say its a mirco switch for the lock about half way down with the pics

i've got something plugged into this. went to vw to buy a new microswitch for the boot and came away with this part, which etka showed up as a microswitch.
the part clips round the lock barrel, and activates the microswitch on it when you open the boot by the key manually, but that's as far as i got with it. i thought it could be for just opening the boot manually without unlocking the other doors and deactivating the alarm. however, the alarm still went off. don't know if something needed tweaking with vag-com.
