Title: vibrating everywheree!!!- mounts???
Post by: rio_gti on 29 January 2011, 16:24
hey all!!!

as above i got a problem....
started the car the other day and it sounded like the exhaust was resting on the chasie- a really LOUD AND POWERFUL vibration. but after a few revs and a little drive it went away.
then the day after when i took the revs higher between 3500 and 5500 i realised the vibrating is there still

now dont tell me off for not searching cos i have and i'm guessin its the mounts, but which one???!!!  :undecided:

i need somethin off the shelf cos i'm driving to france first thing tuesday

please help!!!!!

Check the centre mount on the system - it will probably need welding back to the chassis, its a easy job for a garage TBH

Interesting!!!!
I've got a tinny/rattling sound coming from the middle of the car, so i've just been to my local exhaust/tyre fitter got the car up in the air and the center exhaust mount looks foobar'd.  :undecided:
Has anyone a part number for this? Oh and a price.
While it was in the air we noticed a nice oil leak at the back of the engine.   ffs. I hope it's not the head gasket.

will be changing the down pipe at the weekend so will get a better view of the mounts then......

I'm kicking myself for not getting a pic of this center mount.  by all accounts its a common fault  not a cheap/easy straight forward swap  lol  unless you use cable ties. lol
I wonder if that section of pipe can be replaced with something better??  :smug:
