Title: Touchscreen headunit
Post by: countrytrucker on 28 January 2011, 09:42

My friend is thinking about getting a MK5 and he likes the look of my touchscreen RCD510.

Was there a touchscreen headunit available in the MK5? If not, could a MK6 headunit be put in a MK5?

Cool, thanks.

I assume the MK5 didn't come with touchscreen?

Touchscreen came in on the MK6 golfs - they give the dash a massive lift

You need to watch out for battery drain issues with the MK5 depending on what control module is fitted and what year the car is.

The run out Mk5's (built in 2008) would have the RNS-510 or RCD-510 rather than the older MFD2 or RCD-500.

Thanks guys! I am trying to convert him. He got a new job which is a bit of a drive from his house and he currently drives a thirsty 330 Clubsport BMW. Diesel could be the way forward for him!
