Title: wheres the best place to get a gearbox

hi guys i was just wondering where is the best place to buy a gearbox or even a reconditioned gearbox for my mk3 gti 8v standard issue with reverse popping out. cheers

Reconditioned gearboxes are expensive, i'd look in a scrappy for a second hand one. Ideally there will be a car that was driven in and is still useable so you can have a quick drive round the yard to make sure reverse works and theres not crunching of gears etc.

corr you must have decent scrappies your way at my local ones the cars are stacked 3 high lol

bloody tractor spotters !!..  :smiley: london is not a good place for decent scrappies plus every scrappy 90% of cars are bare after a week..
