can anyone help me in that im looking for a mk2 golf thats good on fuel:laugh: so most probably not a gti but really want a mk2 any help would be appreciated

8v GTI Digifant is a good bet if you want to go for a petrol

Comprable to a 1.3 for economy and much better than the 1.6 and 1.8 carb models.

Drive like a granny and you'll see 45mpg out of it, drive the life out of it and you should still get 35mpg+

i have a 1.8 8v 90spec and when i was driving it before i took it off the road i was getting about 40odd to the gallon going by the MFA..  not exactly juicey compared to my mk4 which was getting mid 20's

100% agree with you, my old 8v digi (on 248k miles when i sold it) would return 40-45mpg with mixed driving, minimum of low 30's around town.

Ebay definition of rare yes,   are they really actualy genuinly rare not really, there just isn't loads of them hanging about just sufficent
