Title: FVWSH
Post by: Andy P on 27 January 2011, 10:41
Anyone thinks it makes a difference to the value of a 2nd hand car? Reason I ask is my Bora is due a 120k service and it's always had full dealer history upto now. Is it worth paying the extra £50 and get the dealer to service it or just get an independent?

Would anyone pay more for a full vwsh on a car?

It is a bonus, and will be a benefit when it comes to selling. May give the car an edge over others on the market at the time, but I cant see it adding much/any value over a well documented non VW service history.

It would certainly swing it for me, however mine has VWSH for the 1st 8 years and VAG specialist history for the following 4 years. I was going to keep it either specialist or VW to maintain the history but I weighed up the costs of servicing against the value of the car and any potential value it may add.

To me paying an extra £50 per service on a car worth about a grand isn't worth it

I do think it does add a little bit of value to the car, not much though.  I would look for about five years of servicing with the main dealer then specialist would be fine by me after that.  I had mine serviced at the main dealer yesterday but only as I am due to sell it and I wanted to have it fully stamped by VW because it may make a slight difference on what I can get for the car.

At the end of the day, it would not make much if any difference to the value who serviced it as long as the book is stamped and you have the invoice.

My car is due its 70k service next month and has full main dealer history but I will be using a local garage I know and trust.

Well it's full vw upto 120k. It's a 04 Bora tdi. I will use a vag specialist as I want the long life oil. Good to hear other peoples opinions though.

Iv got genuine VW leeds stamp here too, only makes a difference in regards to price of car, when the car is new ish, say first 5 years at a MAX, i personally prefere to see a specialist dealer stamp.

On a Bora, cant see FWSH making much, if someone wants to be anal about it maybe 100 more in value... but im with chuff, that said - you cant trust any service history as anyone can have a stamp made up of their choice
